Ford - Trucks you can write off

Ford is using an interesting tactic in these final days of the calendar year. If you are a small business owner and need a truck for your business, buy a new truck and write it off on your taxes.

Ford sent out an email advertisement on the 27th of December to prospective buyers urging them to purchase a new work truck, utility van or large SUV before the end of the year to take advantage of the IRS’s section 179 deduction. The section 179 deduction was recently retooled and made permanent, and Ford recognizes that this could be a big tax break for your business.

The F-Series pickup, Transit work and passenger vans and Expedition SUV are highlighted in Ford’s push for year-end sale. Ford relies on sales from their F-Series line of trucks to carry the bulk of their sales as it has over the years. And the automaker plans on dialing back production on certain trucks and vans to curtail inventory levels.

Ford's push aims to lure buyers by combining existing incentives with tax breaks being offered on vehicles put in service for business by Dec. 31. For those who qualify, up to $25,000 can be deducted on Expedition SUV purchases or the entire cost of a Transit work van, for instance.

Towing Power

.

When it comes to trucks, one of the hottest debated topics is who has the best towing capacity. While many try to contend, most are pretenders, and there is really only one true winner, the 2017 Ford F-450. It was recently announced that the F-450, Ford’s beefiest pickup, will have the highest towing capacity of any pickup on the road, a staggering 32,500.

To pull 32,500 pounds, Ford uses a gooseneck trailer system which attaches the trailer to the middle of the truck increasing the towing ability. With The Ford F-Series recently switching to an aluminum body they cut the weight of the truck by 350 pounds while reinforcing and strengthening the entire truck with its new fully boxed frame. The steel used in the frame is 95% high-strength steel making the frame 24 times stiffer than before.

In addition to Ford to making the F-Series lighter and having a stronger body, they have hooked up the new Super Duty‘s engine lineup to get a bump in performance.  The 6.7-liter turbodiesel Power Stroke V8 still puts out 440 horsepower, but torque rises to 925 pound-feet of torque – up from 860 lb-ft. The 6.2-liter gas V8 also gets a modest bump in torque from 405 lb-ft to 430, which Ford is claiming as best-in-class, with power staying the same at 385 hp.

Aluminum redesign for Ford Super Duty

In 2015, Ford made a radical change, they switched out the steel on their F-150s for Aluminum. The gamble paid off, and now, Ford is changing the rest of their trucks. The Ford Super Duty series is getting an aluminum makeover. The Ford Super Duty is getting its first complete makeover in 18 years.

Following in the footsteps of its little brother the F-150, the new 2017 Super Duty, will replace the steel body panels with lighter-weight aluminum for the cab and truck bed. For the Super Duty, Ford is using the same 0.055-in gauge “military-grade” aluminum as it uses on its lighter F-150 models, saving up to 350 pounds over previous models. The chassis is still made from 95% high-strength-steel for the fully boxed frame and has 10 cross-members with 5 are through-frame cross-members, which add to the new Super Duty’s rigidity.

With the new frame and aluminum panels the Super Duty still retains all the towing power that you know and love from the previous generation. Towing up to 18,000 pound with the towing package and holding a payload of 4,200 pounds for the F-250, make it best in class.

Another game changing upgrade to the Super Duty line is the redesigned cabin, now sharing the same comfort that has come to be expected in the F-150. The technology and refinement of the F-150 has migrated across the entire F Series line-up. Starting at the front window, a sound-deadening rubber gasket at the base of the windshield helps seal out engine noise in the cabin. Dual glove boxes, a large functional center console, trailer brake controller, overhead auxiliary switches and optional lockable storage bins under the rear seats help round the Super Duty’s amenities.  The new truck gets Ford’s Sync3, adaptive steering, active forward-collision braking, and adaptive cruise control and lane-departure warning. The Super Duty also has a very cool feature in which you can attach a back-up camera to the back of your trailer and it will show on the in dash screen, this works for up to a 33 foot  trailer.

The powertrain is much the same as the previous generation, two gas engines, a 6.2L V-8 and a 6.8L V-10 and a second-generation 6.7L Power Stroke V-8 turbodiesel. The diesel engine now uses dual-pilot fuel injection, this helps reduce noise and decrease overall fuel consumption. The Super Duty now carries a 48-gallon fuel tank giving these trucks a 1,000 mile range. The Super Duty comes in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum, 3 cab configurations, Regular, Super Cab, and Crew Cab, and 2 bed lengths 6.5 and 8 feet.

The new Ford Super Duty should be available in early 2017. Check out our inventory and contact us to pre-order yours now.

Ford F-150 is going Diesel Powered

Ford is preparing a diesel-powered F-150. The diesel F-150 could use the same 3.0-liter V-6 as the Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Td6 models. Land Rover is a former possession of Ford, and the "Lion" V-6 used in those SUVs is from a Ford engine family.

Despite its aluminum body and reliance on downsized EcoBoost turbocharged gasoline engines, the current F-150 can't match the diesel Ram's fuel economy. But the really important numbers will likely be the 24 mpg combined (21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway) of the rear-wheel drive HFE (High Fuel Efficiency) model. All EcoDiesel models use an eight-speed automatic.

What appear to be diesel-powered Ford F-150 test mules were spotted last month testing on public roads. Ford is preparing a diesel-powered F-150. The latest piece of evidence? An emissions calibration sticker. Listed as JFC1-3.0-966, the important info is in the middle digits. The "3.0" identifies the engine's displacement. That doesn't confirm a diesel F-150, but the sticker is a sign that this truck has a 3.0-liter engine under its hood, which is a common displacement for oil-burning engines.

Signs are pointing to a late 2016 debut for the F-150 diesel, which would likely make it a 2017 model rather than a 2018 model. If that were the case – and here's where we're getting skeptical – that'd mean the diesel-powered F-Series could debut before the truck's mid-cycle refresh.

Ford has taken Hybrid to the C-Max

Ford has taken Hybrid to the C-Max

For years, Ford has been known for its line of SUVs, the F-150 and the Mustang. Now, Ford is taking it to a new level with their Hybrid masterpiece the C-Max. The Ford C-Max Hybrid is undoubtedly one of the best hybrid models for sale in the U.S.

The C-Max Hybrid has plenty of power and is quite responsive under all sorts of driving situations. The C-Max handles very well and delivers a comfortable ride on many different road conditions. It is also quite maneuverable in tight spaces, which is a big plus in city driving. All while having the space to hold all your passengers, luggage and there is a good amount of cargo space.

At the center of the C-Max is its powertrain. Its powertrain is a combination of a gas engine and a battery-driven electric motor. The C-Max Hybrid has an extended range just off of battery power and the lithium-ion battery pack is gets charged when the gas engine is in operation. Lithium-ion battery packs also are more efficient than the nickel-metal-hydride batteries used in first-generation hybrid vehicles, they are smaller and lighter. The battery becomes charged while braking, which requires no need to plug-in the car to charge.

Ford uses their power-split technology to allow the C-Max Hybrid to travel in electric mode at higher speeds than any other hybrid. Using the electric mode, it allows an overall 42 miles per gallon in city driving and 37 mpg on the highway.

The C-Max’s exterior has a functional quality that seems to enhance the vehicle’s no-nonsense appeal. The higher roofline increases the interior space for people a storage and makes the trunk larger than its comparable counter parts. The larger than normal hatch can be opened with either the hands-free foot sensor or the key fob.

The driver experiences more plenty of head room and a larger area of visibility, making it comfy on both long and short trips. The technology and Sync3 infotainment system is taken straight from the rest of Ford’s line of quality vehicles. Including park-assist, push button start, voice activated navigation and 911 Assist. Some of the C-Max’s other driver assist tech is” curve control” which slows the car in a curve when using cruise control and “Torque Vectoring Control” to help you accelerate through a turn when necessary.

The C-Max Hybrid is very likable, very efficient and with a price tag under $25,000, a very affordable vehicle that is well worth consideration by anyone looking for an interesting compact car. Interested in getting a Ford C-Max? Check out our inventory and contact us now to get yours today.

EcoBoosted - F150 One Millionth Unit and Counting

One Million! And counting.

When you hear Ford, one of the first things that come to mind is trucks.

Ford knows trucks.

The standard in performance and durability for quarter ton trucks has always been the Ford F-150. First manufactured in 1948, the F-150 has since taken over the market, the best-selling pickup truck since 1977 and the all-around best-selling vehicle since 1981.

Now in its thirteenth generation, the Blue Oval has an EcoBoost V6 workhorse that has now sold over one million trucks. The Ford F-150 is available with no less than four engine options. 3.5-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8, the light-duty truck is available with a frugal 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 and a torquey 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6.

“We are proving that with advanced technologies like EcoBoost and high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy construction, Ford continues to outperform the competition by virtually every metric,” explains Doug Scott, truck group marketing manager at FoMoCo.

The best part of the F-150 EcoBoost, the savings. And according to Ford, that with amount to “more than 110 million gallons of gasoline” over the next year. All the while not abandoning any power, in fact, the 2017 F-150 with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 will be more powerful than previous models!
